How to plan an interior design budget in Hyderabad

A useful interior budget is not a price per square foot pulled from an advertisement. It is a clear list of rooms, materials, services and site conditions that lets you compare like with like.

Start with the scope, not the finish

Write down which rooms are included and whether the project covers only modular joinery or the full site: civil changes, electrical, plumbing, ceiling, lighting, painting, furniture and styling. Two quotes can look very different simply because one leaves these trades out.

  • List every room and fixed-storage requirement.
  • Separate must-haves from upgrades.
  • Record appliances, sanitaryware and loose furniture already purchased.
  • Share the possession date and whether the home is occupied.

The cost drivers to compare

Cost driverWhat to verify
Carcass materialGrade, thickness, wet-zone specification and edge treatment
Shutter finishLaminate, acrylic, PU or veneer, including edge and handle profile
HardwareBrand, range, load rating and written warranty
Site servicesElectrical points, plumbing moves, ceiling and painting inclusions
InstallationTransport, fitting, protection, cleaning and snag closure

Keep a controlled contingency

Renovations can reveal uneven walls, old wiring or plumbing that needs correction. New apartments may still need changes after a site measurement. Keep a separate contingency rather than hiding it inside every line item, and require written approval before a variation is executed.

What a comparable quote should contain

  • Room-by-room quantities and dimensions
  • Named material grades, finishes and hardware
  • A list of exclusions
  • Payment stages tied to deliverables
  • A process for variations and snagging
